BEST OF MINNESOTA – Glenwood’s Lakeside featured by WCCO-TV

Natalie Nyhus of WCCO-TV was in Glenwood, MN recently, doing a feature on Lakeside Ballroom.

Lakeside was featured in a Best of Minnesota series that aired on WCCO Wednesday, July 13 during the 10 p.m. news. The feature also aired on WCCO’s Saturday morning broadcast, anchored by Natalie Nyhus.

At that time, the rest of Minnesota was informed about something most area residents already know – Lakeside in Glenwood is the “Best in Minnesota” when it comes to lakeside dining.

Nyhus told the Tribune that she was impressed with Lakeside.

“As far as a venue is concerned, I’ve never seen anything quite like it,” she said.  “It’s really a multi-faceted facility.  It has a ballroom and dining room, a lodge and a patio.  To me, this feels like a destination . . . and the lake is beautiful.”

WCCO-TV conducted a Facebook contest asking viewers to tell the television news station what business featured the “best lake side dining in Minnesota.”

Lakeside in Glenwood won easily, according to Nyhus.

Nyhus and a WCCO camera operator were at Lakeside to do the feature, and Lakeside was its usual busy place over the noon hour. Glenwood Rotarians were meeting in the ballroom portion of the building, and the dining room was full with a few gathered at tables on the outside patio.

Nyus interviewed a number of diners, including a couple who had met at the old Lakeside pavilion when they were 16.  She also did an extensive interview with Jill Solmonson, who she called “Lakeside’s fireplug operator.”
